The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has revealed the updated rules for joining four para-military agencies under the federal government (FG).
The announcement came after a meeting with the boards of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire services, and Immigration Services Board in Abuja.

The meeting included key figures like Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Ahmed Audu, the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdulganiyu Jaji, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Haliru Nababa, the Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
The new guidelines state that 35% of recruitment slots will be specifically reserved for women in agencies such as NSCDC, NCoS, FFS, and NIS, aligning with the administration’s agenda. The Minister emphasized the focus on professionalism, gender inclusion, and adherence to federal character principles in the recruitment process.
Tunji-Ojo highlighted that the ongoing recruitment into the Federal Fire Service will follow these updated guidelines. He mentioned that the government has approved a review of recruitment and promotion guidelines for all services under the Ministry of Interior, including the modernization of operations in the Nigeria Immigration Service. This modernization covers various aspects, including training, recruitment, promotion, professionalism, capacity building, and the deployment of cutting-edge technologies.
The minister assured that the timeline for recruitment into the services will be disclosed soon and warned against dealing with fraudulent individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment.
He urged Nigerians not to pay money to anyone promising recruitment into these agencies, emphasizing that such individuals are scammers and will be pursued by the authorities.
