Applications are now open for the 2025 DLA Piper Global Scholarships Programme, a two-year initiative designed to support talented law students (Fellows) from developing countries.
The aim of this scholarship is to cultivate exceptional lawyers and leaders by providing practical learning and development opportunities, enriching their education and enhancing their future contributions to the rule of law in their home countries and beyond. This is not a recruitment program; it is intended to build students’ confidence and help them define and achieve their educational and professional goals, whether in the private sector or public service.

Programme Overview
DLA Piper invites applications from undergraduate law students in the second-to-last year of their studies and postgraduate law students pursuing a related two-year qualification. Eligible students must be studying in their home country, which must be one of the countries covered by the program. The scholarship supports high-achieving law students who otherwise would not have access to role models, internships, mentoring, and tuition assistance.
Fellows in the program will receive extensive support, including skill development, confidence building, and networking opportunities, to help them succeed in their studies and transition smoothly into further education, training, or employment.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be studying law and be in the penultimate year of their degree or
- Have completed a law degree and been accepted to pursue a Master’s degree in a related field in their home country.
- Be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a first-class degree or rank in the top 10% of their class.
- Obtain a recommendation from their university.
- Be a citizen of the country from which they are applying.
- Have a good command of spoken and written English to fully participate in the program.
Application Documents Required:
- University academic transcript showing current grades.
- A letter of recommendation from a university professor, Head of Department, or Law School Dean.
- A two-minute video introducing yourself and explaining your choice to study law.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship includes:
- Full tuition payment for the two-year duration of the scholarship.
- Coverage of all costs related to internships, including travel, accommodation, food, and visas.
- Funding for professional development courses and events.
- Provision of a laptop, phone, headphones, and high-quality internet.
- Financial support for study materials such as textbooks and subscriptions.
- Assistance with business attire for internships.
Learning and Development Opportunities
DLA piper’s eligible Fellows will benefit from:
- Access to Rosetta Stone Language Learning.
- A week-long development course covering the scholarship benefits, soft skills training, and interaction with lawyers and other Fellows.
- Guidance on defining clear educational and professional goals.
- Help with writing a strong CV and advice on personal branding and social media.
- Professional interview training.
- Access to DLA Piper’s online training resources.
- Opportunities for internships with DLA Piper and its clients (both commercial and pro bono).
- A Leadership Course delivered in partnership with Said Business School, Oxford University, UK.
