The Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship is a distinguished program by the University of Nottingham, created in 2001 to support ambitious international students dedicated to making a positive impact in their home countries. This scholarship offers financial assistance to students from Africa, South Asia, and select Commonwealth nations, covering either 50% or 100% of tuition fees for a full-time master’s degree at the University.

Scholarship Details
- Tuition Fee Coverage: Covers 50% or 100% of tuition fees for one-year, full-time master’s programs.
- Eligibility: Open to students from Africa, India, and eligible Commonwealth countries.
- Application Deadline: April 16, 2025
- Fields of Study: Available for master’s courses in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Social Sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Developing Solutions Scholarship, applicants must:
- Reside in Africa, India, or an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Be classified as an overseas student for tuition purposes.
- Have received an offer to study a full-time master’s program (including MRes) for the 2025/26 academic year at the University of Nottingham in an eligible faculty.
Ineligibility
Applicants are ineligible if they:
- Are current or former University of Nottingham students
- Have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree outside their home country.*
- Are currently studying in the UK.
*Note: Applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis if previous studies were completed in an eligible Developing Solutions country.
How to Apply
- Receive an Offer: Secure an offer for a full-time master’s program at the University of Nottingham for the 2025/26 academic year.
- Submit Scholarship Application: Once you have an offer, apply for the scholarship through the NottinghamHub system.
- For MRes Applicants: Email scholarship-assistant@nottingham.ac.uk for specific application instructions.
Application Evaluation
The selection process values applicants who present a clear vision and actionable plan to address development issues in their home countries. Strong applications should demonstrate how their chosen field of study will help them make a meaningful impact. Be mindful of word count limits, as responses exceeding these limits may be disqualified.
Scholarship Terms
- Accepting the Award: The Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship is only granted to students who accept their study offer.
- Notification: Applicants will be informed about their scholarship status by the end of May 2025.
- Conditions: Scholarships cover tuition fees directly and cannot be combined with other University of Nottingham scholarships.
