The DAAD Heinrich Böll Scholarship, affiliated with the German Green Party, offers funding opportunities for German and international students from any discipline pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral studies in Germany. Approximately 1,500 scholarships are awarded annually to students demonstrating academic excellence, social and political engagement, and alignment with the foundation’s values.

Benefits

Scholarship recipients will receive:

Tuition-free education at a German university.
A monthly allowance of €934 plus additional individual allowances.
A €300 monthly allowance for study costs.
Possible family and childcare allowances.
Health insurance coverage.

Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Enrollment at a recognized institution of higher education in Germany.
Proof of German language proficiency (B2 level or higher, or DSH2).
Outstanding academic performance:
- Excellent school grades or academic achievements.
- Certified academic transcripts and degree certificates (translated into German or English if required).
Active social engagement and a strong interest in politics.
A compelling motivation to apply to the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
Additional Notes:
- International applicants can apply for graduate and doctoral programs.
- Undergraduate scholarships are available only to German nationals.
- Refugees must include documentation on residence permits or asylum status.
