Akpeja Diden, the chairman of the Children of Drivers and Fishermen Association (CODAFA) Akpeja Diden, strongly denounced the recent assault on members of the association and the community during the visit of Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to Okere community in Warri South local government area of Delta State.
This visit was part of the activities marking the conclusion of the Okere community royal palace (Aghofen) guard/watch.

In a press release issued in Warri and signed by both the chairman, Akpeja Romeo Diden, and the secretary, Akpeja Blessing Okotie, the attack on community members, including the association’s secretary, during their celebration with Okere community, was condemned as an aberration.
Akpeja Diden expressed his disapproval of the assault by certain unscrupulous individuals within the kingdom, emphasizing that such actions would no longer be tolerated.
He stated, “There is only one king in Warri Kingdom, and everyone must come under his authority. Therefore, whoever feels they are too big to submit to his authority can create their own kingdom.”
Recalling Ogiame Atuwatse III’s visit to the Okere community, which had been guarding the palace of the Olu of Warri since December 2023, it was mentioned that the community would be passing the baton to another community later this month as part of Ogiame Atuwatse III’s Ghigho Aghofẹn (royal change of guard).
Following the customary prayers and blessings offered by the monarch after the peaceful reception and festivities, a group of dissenters from Okere resisted, leading to some skirmishes, and the present security personnel took appropriate action.
