Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship 2025 receive:
- An award of up to $6,000
- Funding from one or more of the university’s 900+ scholarship and donor funds
- Automatic consideration based on submission of a financial aid application
- Ongoing support for eligible continuing students, subject to GPA and financial need
Who Can Apply?
There is no separate scholarship application. Students are automatically considered for this award when they submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship, students must meet the following academic and residency requirements:
Incoming Freshmen (California Residents & AB 540 Eligible)
- GPA of 4.1 or higher (weighted)
- Must submit UC Application and either FAFSA or CADAA
Incoming Transfer Students (From California Community Colleges)
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Must meet all financial aid and UC application requirements
Continuing UC Berkeley Students
- Minimum GPA of 3.5
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Submit the FAFSA or CADAA each academic year
Application Process
For New Applicants (Freshmen or Transfers)
- Submit the University of California Application for Admission and Scholarships (typically by November 30 of the prior year)
- Fill out the FAFSA (fafsa.gov) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) (dream.csac.ca.gov)
- In the UC application’s “Scholarships” section, highlight characteristics such as:

For Continuing UC Berkeley Students
- Submit your FAFSA or CADAA before the deadline for the academic year
- Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA
- Ensure that all financial aid documentation is accurate and up to date
Important Notes
- Scholarships are awarded based on both academic excellence and demonstrated financial need
- There is no separate or additional application form
- Out-of-state and international students are not eligible
