Flinders University, in collaboration with the Australian Government, is inviting applications for the AGRTPS 2025, a fully funded research scholarship designed for international students who aspire to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) in Australia.

What the AGRTPS Covers (Benefits)

Selected candidates for the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship will receive:

  • Stipend:  AUD $35,010 per annum (tax-free) for full-time research (2025 rate)
  • Tuition Fee Offset: Covers full international tuition for up to 4 years
  • Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) included
  • Relocation Allowance: Up to AUD $1,485 for travel and relocation expenses with receipts

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of any country except New Zealand, and not hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Be starting full-time HDR study in 2025 or started late in 2024 and missed the scholarship window
  • Be enrolling for the first time in a PhD or Master of Arts by Research program at Flinders University
  • Must apply in an area of research concentration where the university has demonstrated expertise
  • Satisfy all admission requirements, including English language proficiency

How to Apply: Step-by-Step Guide

 Step 1: Register for Admission

  • Visit Flinders International HDR Application Page below
  • Complete the registration
  • Note your Flinders Student ID, which will be generated within one hour

 Step 2: Activate Your Flinders Account

  • Go to the Account Activation Portal
  • Use your Student ID and Date of Birth to activate your account
  • You’ll receive your Flinders Authentication Name (FAN)

Step 3: Apply for the AGRTPS

  • Log into your OKTA Dashboard on the Flinders website
  • Go to Student System > My Scholarship tab
  • Click “Create a new scholarship application”
  • Select 2025 > International RHD Scholarship Group

Can I apply if I already started my HDR in 2024?
Yes, if you missed the 2024 AGRTPS deadline and are still within your first six months, you may be eligible.

Is a separate scholarship application needed after admission?
Yes. After admission registration, you must complete a separate application for the scholarship via the Student System portal.

Can I apply if I already received a research scholarship elsewhere?
No. You cannot be receiving an equivalent scholarship from the Australian Government or other sponsors.

Is the relocation allowance guaranteed?
Yes, if you’re relocating from overseas and provide valid receipts, up to AUD $1,485 can be reimbursed.
