The primary objective of the World Bank Legal Internship Program is to provide participants with hands-on exposure to the organization’s activities by closely collaborating with Legal Vice Presidency staff.
As integral members of the World Bank team, interns will have the chance to contribute to the legal services offered by the Legal Vice Presidency and participate in significant events and conferences organized during their internship.
Internship duties include a wide range of legal assignments under the guidance of supervising lawyers.
These tasks may involve:
– Researching assigned issues using various sources
– Analyzing information and presenting findings
– Undertaking comparative legal analyses
– Identifying legal and policy issues, researching relevant precedents, and proposing viable solutions
– Participating in task/project teams
– Assisting in conference and meeting organization
Eligibility
- To be eligible for the program, applicants must be enrolled in an LLB, JD, LLM, SJD, PhD, or equivalent legal academic program during the internship period.
- Proficiency in the English language is also essential.

Application requirements include a
- résumé,
- statement of interest,
- proof of enrollment in a qualifying legal degree program, academic transcript(s),
- short essay addressing a research question posed by the Legal Vice Presidency for the current application cycle.
