The United Nations International Law Fellowship Program, administered by the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, offers an annual summer course at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands.
This comprehensive program includes lectures and seminars in international law conducted by distinguished scholars and practitioners from various regions and legal systems.

The Fellowship Programme, conducted in English or French, aims to:
1. Provide high-quality training on essential topics in international law by renowned scholars and practitioners.
2. Deepen the knowledge of international law and the legal work of the United Nations for qualified professionals, particularly government officials and international law educators from developing countries and emerging economies.
Key Points
– The Fellowship Programme accommodates up to 20 participants from developing countries and countries with emerging economies.
– Covered expenses include travel costs, accommodation, medical insurance, participation in the programme, training material, and registration fee for the public international law session at The Hague Academy of International Law.
– Stipends are provided to cover additional living expenses following United Nations fellowship policies.
– Self-funded positions are available for qualified candidates willing to bear all associated costs.
Requirements
– Candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in international law.
– Selected candidates must confirm their ability to attend the entire Fellowship Programme.
– Consideration is given to qualifications, professional duties, relevance of training to duties, geographical distribution, and gender balance.
– Female candidates are encouraged to apply, and preference may be given to candidates from Member States with no recent fellowship recipients.

– Complete the application form in English, providing clear and detailed answers.
– Include a completed and signed “Letter of Transmission” from a senior official of the presenting institution.
– Non-English speakers must submit evidence of English proficiency.
