The Halcyon Africa Climate Fellowship 2024 offers African entrepreneurs a $5,000 equity-free stipend
This initiative brings together entrepreneurs from various regions in Sub-Saharan Africa, empowering them to address climate challenges through innovative solutions in Renewable Energy, Green Building, Climate Data, Agriculture, WaterTech, and Blue Economy.

Participants will receive expert training, essential resources to accelerate their ventures, a one-week in-person residency in Washington, DC, and another one-week in-person residency in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Africa Climate Fellowship is conducted with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Office of Global Partnerships at the U.S. State Department.
Program Structure
– Cohort comprising up to 10 ventures founded by entrepreneurs from across Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on climate-related solutions.
– Ventures undergo training in Halcyon’s methodology, covering product-market fit, investment readiness, and leadership.
– Program delivery includes a virtual kickoff meeting, a one-week residency in DC, monthly virtual meetings, and a one-week residency in Nairobi.
Eligibility
They seek applications from for-profit startups developing scalable solutions addressing climate change challenges.
– Location: Ventures must be based in and/or serving Sub-Saharan Africa.
– Stage: Minimum Viable Product with potential for scalability.
– Team: May apply with up to one co-founder; the applicant must be the CEO and/or hold primary decision-making power.
– Language: Must be fluent in English.
– Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the start of the program.
– Program Engagement: Must actively participate in all activities and programming sessions.
– Impact: Developing a product and venture contributing to 1 or more of the UN’s 17 SDGs.
In addition to eligibility, Halcyon evaluates each application based on 4 criteria: Impact, Scalability, Innovation, and Talent.
Benefits
Fellows accepted into the program will receive:
– A $5,000 USD per venture equity-free stipend for travel expenses to attend the residencies.
– One week-long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Georgetown, Washington, DC.
– One week-long residency in Nairobi, culminating in an event featuring pitches from each venture and connections to investors, advisors, and media.
– Bespoke training on product-market fit, investment readiness, leadership, skills development, and mentorship.
– Assistance in honing storytelling and pitching.
– Connections to relevant impact investors.
– $10,000 USD in Amazon Cloud credits.
– Membership in a worldwide community of over 450 impact-driven entrepreneurs.
