NewGen acts as a global platform for showcasing youth-led innovation in the climate and sustainable energy sectors.
The program aims to equip youth with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support to develop and implement their ideas.
IRENA will now support youth-led startups, scale-ups, and growing businesses to foster their expansion and accelerate their business growth.
Through close collaboration with its partners, IRENA will provide successful participants access to funding opportunities, business networks, and other resources to help bring their ideas to fruition.
Benefits
Participants in the NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator will benefit from a series of training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing activities, as well as opportunities for market/investor linkages designed to scale business impact, enhance youth climate/sustainable energy impact, and facilitate securing investments for implementing their business plans and solutions.

– Dedicated workshop on Climate Impact forecasting
– Tailored acceleration program in renewable energy and climate technology
Eligibility
The program is open to individuals aged between 18 and 35 from all over the world.
At least one founder of the startup must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Startups’ main business line should fall within the following categories:
– Renewable Energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind, hydropower, green hydrogen, geothermal, and bioenergy)
– Climate adaptation technologies (e.g., Water Security, Agriculture & Irrigation, livestock, Flood safeguards, Resource efficiency)
– Climate Mitigation technologies (e.g., transportation, decarbonization, circular economy, energy efficiency, energy transformation, and smart grids)
At least two of the startup founders must commit 16 hours each month to attend the accelerator sessions.
Participants in the selection process must guarantee that the submitted documentation is original and created solely by the applicants, without infringing on copyrights, trademarks, or the rights of privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
Application Process
Join this four-month hybrid acceleration program to collaborate closely with renewable energy and business experts to strengthen your business model, expand your customer base, and improve your investment readiness. Participants in the NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator will be announced on May 1, 2024.
