INTERACT-Africa Goals
1. Promoting Inclusive Learning
– Enhance the capacity of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by providing training in green Chemistry, Biology, and IT to develop a skilled workforce for sustainable practices.
2. Fostering Entrepreneurship
– Support green technology businesses in Africa with mentorship, funding, and technical support for entrepreneurs and startups in green Chemistry, Biology, and IT.
3. Facilitating Networking and Knowledge Sharing
– Promote innovation and sustainable economic growth through internships, cooperative education programs, and hands-on learning opportunities.
Scholarship Period
– PhD Scholarships: 5 scholarships, maximum duration of 36 months.
– Master’s Scholarships: 23 scholarships, maximum duration of 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Meet the minimum admission requirements for Masters and PhD programs as set by the host university.
– Provide proof of being a national and resident of an eligible African country.
– Submit a research concept paper in the intended study area (1 page, Times New Roman, single spacing).
– Obtain an admission letter from the host university.
– Not have previously benefited from an Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme scholarship (2022-2027).
– Commit not to benefit from another EU-funded scholarship for the same activity during the mobility period.
– Provide a motivation letter reflecting innovative technologies in climate change and mitigation.
– Submit two recommendation/reference letters, one from an academic advisor or professor.
– Be willing to study in a different eligible African country.
– Provide proof of special needs if applicable.
– For non-English speakers, a B2 level English proficiency (CEFR) is required for institutions where English is the language of instruction.
– For IFA-YANGAMBI, a B2 level French proficiency is required.
Funding
– PhD Students
– Tuition and research costs.
– Comprehensive health and accident insurance.
– Monthly stipend of €1,230, including travel costs, visa costs, and settling allowance.
– Master’s Students
– Tuition and research costs.
– Comprehensive health and accident insurance.
– Monthly stipend of €890, including travel costs, visa costs, and settling allowance.
Language of Instruction
– English: Moi University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Addis Ababa University, and Sokoine University of Agriculture.
– French: Institut Facultaire Des Sciences Agronomiques De Yangambi (IFA-Yangambi).
