The categories align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda, encompassing GreenTech, HealthTech, Mobility and Logistics, AgriTech, FinTech, and Women in Tech.
Given that Africa is the world’s youngest continent, with 60% of its population under 25 years old, GSA Africa aims to empower youth in shaping the future through innovation, introducing the Youth Startup category for founders under 26.
The competition unfolds in four key phases, with winners progressing through national and regional levels before converging at the GSA Africa Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital.
Participants can anticipate a week-long festival for networking and showcasing their innovation, culminating in an awards dinner to honor African winners who have the chance to compete globally.
The summit serves as a platform for innovators to connect, celebrate, and propel Africa’s most innovative minds forward, alongside ambassadors, international investors, corporate leaders, and key government stakeholders.
Furthermore, winners gain exclusive access to the GIIG Africa fund and the Global Startup Awards Alumni Network, providing invaluable networking opportunities, mentorship, and connections with regional and global stakeholders.
Applications for the 2024 GSA Africa close on May 5th, with only completed applications eligible to advance to the next round. The application process is free and straightforward.
