The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared last Saturday’s Governorship Primary Election in Edo state inconclusive.
The decision was reached after an emergency meeting that lasted about three hours. APC spokesman, Felix Morka, announced the committee’s resolution, stating, “The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024, for the completion of the APC primary election process.” He refrained from providing further details in response to media inquiries.

During the initial primary election, local government returning officers, led by Babatunde Ojo, declared Anamero Dekeri, a serving member of the House of Representatives, as the winner.
However, the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, declared another federal lawmaker, Dennis Idahosa, as the winner.
Additionally, returning officer Stanley Ugboaja declared Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner. All three candidates have demanded that the NWC issue them a Certificate of Return.
