A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka, has called on the judiciary to swiftly resolve the uncertainty surrounding the legitimacy of the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), to prevent an impending crisis in the state.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, Eze expressed concern that the presidency seems to endorse the actions of the defected lawmakers, who are loyal to FCT minister, Chief Nyesom Wike.

He accused the pro-Wike lawmakers, led by speaker Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule, of passing illegal laws to undermine the authority of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to the detriment of the state’s citizens.
Eze cautioned that if the actions of the Amaewhule-led lawmakers are not curbed, they may initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor in the near future.
The APC chieftain advised the defected lawmakers and their supporters to refrain from actions that cast them as enemies of the state, emphasizing that Governor Fubara is working diligently to rectify the mistakes of previous administrations.
Regarding the call by the APC caretaker committee chairman in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, for the Amaewhule-led lawmakers to commence impeachment proceedings against Fubara, Eze stated that it was inappropriate. He pointed out that the group lacks the constitutional mandate to act as lawmakers for the state after defecting from their party.
He urged the governor and Nigerians to disregard Chief Okocha and his statements, describing him as “never been a serious-minded fellow.”
