Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has instructed the unconditional reintegration of returnees from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) into the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across various wards and chapters.
The governor issued this directive during the reception of numerous YPP returnees, led by Mr. Ubong Edem, at the Government House in Uyo.

Governor Eno emphasized that in politics, it is commonplace for individuals to pursue different paths, fostering healthy opposition based on longstanding relationships and convictions.
He expressed that constructive opposition serves to challenge the government, propelling it to achieve greater performance, as long as it is conducted without bitterness or animosity.
He stated, “Thank you for the fight you put up. Maybe we wouldn’t have been where we are today but for your resistance. Power is not supposed to be a walkover.
There must be some level of resistance, and it is that fight that makes us prepare better and stay more focused. So, you did the right thing. And where there is no opposition, the government could take the people for granted, so I thank you.”
Governor Eno commended the returnees for their commitment to join hands in developing the state and assured them that the PDP family in their respective wards would welcome them without discrimination.
He encouraged them to value their reinstatement by maintaining their commitment to the PDP and showing support to the government through hard work aligned with the principles of the ARISE agenda.
Furthermore, he urged sincerity, commitment, and steadfastness, cautioning against any attempts to dislodge or displace those who held the party during their absence. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and equity.
