President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Anthem Bill into law, reinstating the old national anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.” Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced this at a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday.
During his address to the lawmakers, President Tinubu mentioned that he will soon present the 2024 Supplementary Bill. He was at the National Assembly primarily to commission the new National Assembly Library.

In his welcome address, Senate President Akpabio noted that the President’s visit was mainly to greet the lawmakers.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, apologized for any confusion about the President’s visit, clarifying that the mistake was on the part of the National Assembly.
President Bola stated that any formal speech will be postponed to June 12, Democracy Day. On that day, he will officially start the recitation of the reinstated national anthem and then proceed with other engagements.
