Applications are Now Open for the Ashesi University-ETH Zurich Master in Mechatronic Engineering Scholarship 2024
Since January 2022, Ashesi University in Ghana and ETH Zurich have been offering a joint Master’s programme in Mechatronic Engineering. Currently, 40 students from 7 African countries are enrolled at Ashesi University.

A third cohort has been selected and will start in 2024. The programme is delivered through block courses developed and taught by faculty from both universities.
Program Overview
This Master’s programme in Mechatronic Engineering combines advanced technologies to empower various applications, such as automated household equipment, smart manufacturing, self-driving cars, surgical robots, and robotic space exploration. The courses, taught by Ashesi and ETH Zurich faculty, provide students with specialized skills and competences for a career in this dynamic field.
Research and Innovation
Students will enhance their research and innovation skills through industrial internships and a Master’s project. They will blend theory with practical experience, focusing on topics that align with their interests and career goals. This work is guided by experts from both academia and industry, informed by world-class research and expertise.
Industry Partnerships
The programme benefits from strong partnerships with industry leaders like ABB, Barry Callebaut, Bühler, HPW, Holcim, Nestlé, and Tetra Pak, all operational in Africa. These partners help ensure the programme meets regional market needs. They provide mentorship, industrial internships, full scholarships, and job opportunities post-graduation.

Fully Funded Program
- No tuition fees
- Full scholarships covering living expenses, travel, and other programme costs
- Three-year duration, awarding two certificates
- A $50 application fee applies, available only if you apply and are selected for an industry scholarship.

- BSc or MSc in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Mechanical, Process, or Mechatronics Engineering
- Second Class Upper or better
- Proficiency in English
