To address the barriers faced by underrepresented groups in technology and business when attending leading conferences, we are thrilled to announce the availability of Google Conference Scholarships for select conferences in the tech industry and related fields.
Scholarship eligibility criteria vary by region, so we encourage applicants to review the information provided on the region-specific tabs at the top.
Scholarships will be awarded to the most qualified individuals based on the review of their applications. All applicants will receive notification of their status within the specified time frames for their region.

Requirements
To be eligible for a scholarship to attend an international conference, applicants must:
Be a full-time student enrolled at a recognized university in Africa who requires financial assistance for conference travel.
Have a paper accepted at a top-tier computer science conference. We prioritize support for conferences in research areas aligned with Google’s interests. Please refer to research.google.com for a list of these areas.
Be the sole or joint first author of the accepted paper.
Google employees are not eligible to apply for Google scholarships. Individuals who are (1) residents of embargoed countries, (2) ordinarily resident in embargoed countries, or (3) otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs may not apply for this scholarship.
Method of Application
Scholarships will be awarded to the most qualified individuals based on the review of their applications. All applicants will receive notification of their status within the specified time frames for their region.
We review applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, so eligible applicants can expect to hear back from us approximately four weeks after applying.
We encourage applicants to apply for the grant well in advance of the conference start date, as the payment completion timeline can range between 5 to 8 weeks. Once approved for a travel grant, the funds will be disbursed to the applicant’s university, and the student may claim expenses using regular university procedures.
