Apply Now for the African Union (AU) Digital and Innovation Fellowship Program (Cohort 2) for African Tech Innovators (Fully Funded to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia)
The African Union Digital and Innovation Fellowship Program is an extensive 12-month initiative designed to identify and deploy highly skilled tech innovators from across Africa to various units and organs within the African Union headquarters as ‘resident fellows’.

These fellows will work to gain an understanding of the systems within these units, identify data management challenges, and collaboratively develop innovative, tailor-made solutions to enhance data management processes and overall AU operations.
Additionally, they will ensure the sustainability of these solutions beyond the fellowship period by strengthening the internal capacity of AU staff within the respective units.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Must be based in Africa and a national of an African Union member state.
2. Age must be under 34 at the time of application.
3. Hold a tertiary education degree or equivalent qualification.
4. Possess the ability to gather and analyze comprehensive information on complex problems, and propose effective solutions.
5. Have experience and technical expertise in designing innovative technology products/solutions.
6. Available to travel and participate in an induction workshop.
7. Willing to dedicate 12 months to the fellowship, including relocating to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
8. Fluency in one or more AU official languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili) is advantageous.

All-Expense Paid Trips
During the fellowship, travel expenses for deployment, events, learning tours, etc., will be fully covered by the program.
Capacity Building Training
1. Induction Workshop: Fellows will undergo comprehensive training, starting with an induction workshop.
2. Virtual Pre-deployment Workshop: Before deployment, fellows will participate in a virtual workshop conducted by experienced tech fellowship experts.
3. Needs-based Capacity Building Training: Tailored training sessions will address specific needs identified through a needs assessment of the fellows. Trainers from the AfriLabs network will deliver these sessions.
4. Learning Tour: Fellows will visit a leading tech organization to gain insights into developing technologies and innovations for government and organizational processes.
Application and Selection
The application process is open to all eligible candidates and selection is based entirely on merit. Applicants are required to submit their applications in English.
