To implement the Performance Management System (PMS) as outlined in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP2), the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has conducted an internal awareness workshop on PMS for its directors and heads of units.
According to a press release signed by the ministry’s Director of Information, Badamasi Salisu Haiba, the Permanent Secretary of the housing ministry, Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, emphasized the importance of the PMS policy introduced by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation during his opening remarks in Abuja yesterday.

“PMS is now a reality in the Federal Civil Service, and it will be implemented in various phases. Directors, in particular, need to grasp its intricacies as they play a crucial role in its successful implementation within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs),” he stated.
The new PMS policy aims to monitor employees’ performance consistently and objectively. It replaces the previous system of annual performance evaluation reports (APERS) that have been used for many years to assess employees for promotion.
