The Kwara State government has commenced the disbursement of bursary grants for the 2023/2024 academic session to 9,989 final-year students from Kwara State.
The recipients, whose identities were verified after thorough screening of the total 27,314 entries, were selected from all 16 local government areas of the state and attended various tertiary institutions across the country.

This information was disclosed in a statement signed by the press secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mansurat Amuda-Kannike.
“We have commenced the payment of the bursary award, which amounts to N10,000 for each successful applicant, as graciously approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” the statement announced.
“The disbursement started on Wednesday, March 27, and will continue until all recipients have received their grants. Payments are being made directly into their bank accounts to ensure transparency and accountability.”
The statement further noted, “A few of the successful applicants have provided incorrect account details. We will reach out to them to rectify the issue.” Additionally, it was mentioned that 100,000 scholarship awards for the 2022/2023 academic session, specifically for law students, are also being disbursed directly to 107 successful applicants from Kwara State, as approved by the governor.
“This initiative reflects the governor’s generosity in bringing joy to the faces of final year Kwara State indigenes studying in tertiary institutions nationwide,” the statement emphasized.
“However, many bursary applicants did not qualify due to various irregularities such as incomplete registration forms, incorrect matriculation numbers, invalid Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), or providing misleading information.”
