Ready To Lead Africa (RTLA), a community of emerging young African leaders, has introduced the ‘FollowThePromises’ web and mobile app designed to monitor the fulfillment of campaign pledges, particularly by elected officials, including governors.
During the unveiling event in Abuja on Friday, the Global President of RTLA, Mr. Godbless Otubure, highlighted the revolutionary aspect of creating e-governance and e-democracy in Nigeria through this initiative.

The app aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in socio-economic development across six states representing the six geo-political zones: Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Ekiti, Gombe, and Ebonyi.
Otubure explained that the app allows the tracking of promises made by governorship candidates during elections and monitors their fulfillment based on their manifestos.
He emphasized the importance of engaging people from local communities in the six states, working with them to collect factual data on the developments in their areas.
The RTLA president stated, “Gone are the days when governors finish their tenure and then come up with a document of what they have done. This time, every day, the people who live in these communities are constantly updating us through our mobile apps, tracking everything that these governors are doing in the states.”
Otubure clarified that the data is not provided by the government but by the community members who are users of the app. He highlighted the user-friendly nature of the app, emphasizing that the trust is built through direct engagement with the communities, including training sessions involving 119 individuals from all local government areas in the six states.
The Chief Launcher/First Secretary of the Embassy of the U.S., Peter Burba, commended the initiative, considering it intriguing and potentially contributing to increased transparency across all states in Nigeria.
He emphasized the importance of realistic budgeting and statements by officials to promote understanding of how institutions function, fostering more trust in democratic institutions.
