Ekiti State Nigeria Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, held a meeting with the Service Chiefs in Abuja to develop a more strategic approach to address the current wave of insecurity in certain parts of the state.
The meeting followed recent incidents, including the killing of two traditional rulers in Oke-Ako and the abduction of school pupils and teachers in Emure Ekiti.

The Governor, accompanied by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Chairman of Ekiti caucus at the National Assembly and Senate Leader, separately met with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja, among other security chiefs.
The governor highlighted the peaceful state of Ekiti in recent years and expressed concern about the recent security breaches.
The tragic killing of two traditional rulers is considered highly significant in Yoruba culture, and the unprecedented abduction of school children raised alarm about the evolving security situation.
Governor Oyebanji discussed with military leaders and advocated for the deployment of additional personnel to dismantle criminal hideouts. He also called for the establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) to enhance the state’s security architecture.
The governor emphasized the urgency of these security measures, offering the state government’s support to address the challenges effectively.
In response, the Chief of Defence Staff assured Governor Oyebanji that the Armed Forces would exert all efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the crimes in Ekiti State. The discussions reflect a collaborative effort to strengthen security and restore peace to the region.
