The Federal Government (FG) has confirmed the commencement of the allocation of affordable houses to Nigerians.
According to the Federal Controller of Housing in charge of Adamawa, Martin Gyado, President Bola Tinubu has improved the National Housing Programme (NHP) by introducing renewed hope cities and estates.

Gyado mentioned that these renewed hope cities and estates were introduced to make houses more affordable for common Nigerians. To that effect, the Federal Ministry of Housing has requested all state governments to provide 50 hectares of land for that purpose. The correspondence for Adamawa has already reached Governor Umaru Fintiri and is awaiting approval.
He disclosed that currently, the allocation of houses built under the previous administration has reduced the housing deficit in the country.
Gyado further explained that application forms are available at the offices of all controllers across the country at no cost. In Adamawa, the housing projects are in three phases, with two phases of 190 units completed and fully serviced with infrastructural roads, electricity, and water.
Gyado assured applicants that due process would be employed as long as they qualified and met the awarding criteria, even though the number of subscribers surpassed the available houses.
In October 2023, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, unveiled the Federal Government‘s plans to develop cost-effective housing designs and promote the construction of quality and affordable housing for Nigerians.
The plan aims to cater to the housing needs of 80% of low- and medium-income earners in the country. Dangiwa noted that an affordable housing design committee was created to develop more efficient design options within his first week in office to meet the income profiles of Nigerians in that bracket.
