The House had earlier conducted a screening exercise for the nominees at the assembly complex. The clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter sent to the House by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the consideration of the nominees for the vacant position of deputy governor.

While submitting the report, the deputy speaker, Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan, recommended the confirmation of the appointment of the nominees whom he affirmed had been properly screened.

Akinruntan said the nominee responded to all questions raised by the committee in a very eloquent and explicit order, noting that he has a clear understanding of the position.

He added that Adelami possesses the required academic qualifications, is physically, mentally, and emotionally stable, and is fit to accomplish the task. The report also stated that the nominee possessed the required experience, charisma, and exposure to function effectively.

The House majority leader, Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved the motion for the report to be considered, and the nominee to be confirmed and was seconded by Hon. Felix Afe representing Akoko North West 2.

Hon. Oladiji, who ruled for his confirmation, congratulated the deputy governor-designate and urged him to put his best into his new office. The speaker pledged the House’s support for the executive arm of government for the people of the state to enjoy more democratic dividends.

In his response, Adelami, a retired deputy clerk of the National Assembly, who hails from Owo, appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for nominating him. While promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him, Adelami appreciated the lawmakers for the efforts they put in place during the screening and confirmation.
