Dangote praised President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and intervention at various stages, removing obstacles and expediting the project’s actualization. He highlighted the significance of the refinery’s commencement of production for Nigeria, emphasizing the country’s ability to develop and deliver large capital projects.

The refinery, located 25 kilometers from the shore, has received six million barrels of crude oil at its Single Point Mooring (SPM) facilities. The first crude delivery occurred on December 12, 2023, with subsequent cargoes delivered through January 8, 2024. Dangote expressed appreciation for the support from bankers and financiers, both local and offshore, acknowledging their patience during challenging times. He also thanked the Lagos State Government, led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for proactive efforts in resolving project-related challenges.

The President recognized the host communities and their traditional leaders for their patience and willingness to collaborate, resolving issues as construction progressed. Additionally, Dangote expressed profound gratitude to the refinery’s staff for their immense contributions to the project’s success.
