The Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship Programme, established in 1998, provides full scholarships to Nigerian students. Funded entirely by Mr. Jim Ovia, the scholarship aims to offer financial support to exceptional young Nigerians. Initially known as the MUSTE scholarship, the program grants approximately 100 new scholarships each year, while continuing support is provided to existing recipients, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria.

Programme Impact

Since October 2010, Mr. Ovia has invested over 100 Million Naira in the programme, benefiting over 1,500 students. The scholarship aims to create a network of future leaders in Nigeria who can compete globally, contribute innovative ideas, and are dedicated to improving their communities.

Benefits

Awardees of the 2024 Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship receive comprehensive support for their entire undergraduate studies, including:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Living stipend worth N150,000.00

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of Nigeria.
  • Be currently or potentially enrolled in an accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership skills.
  • Show a strong commitment to community service.

Scholarships are granted based on intellectual ability, leadership potential, and a commitment to societal improvement.

Required Documents

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  • Government-issued ID
  • Passport photograph
  • Official JAMB Certificate
  • University admission letter
  • Official acceptance letter from the university
  • UTME result
  • Current academic calendar (signed and stamped)
  • Signed and stamped student copy of CGPA results (medical students must provide their most recent signed and stamped examination results showing courses, grades, and CGPA)
  • Original HOD’s recommendation letter detailing current academic level, session, semester, and CGPA (not older than 4 months)
  • School ID card
  • Original secondary school O’Level certificate (WAEC, GCE, or NECO)

Important Notes

  • Submitting altered or falsified documents will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Ensure all documents meet the specified requirements; incorrect submissions will not be accepted.
  • Once submitted, forms cannot be edited. Any false information or forged documents will lead to the applicant being blacklisted from future applications.

  • Choose the “New Applicants” link if you have never received the scholarship before or the “Returning Applicants” link if you are a past recipient.
